Today, I took Ben to the Folsom Zoo. I have to say, it wasn’t what I expected. The Folsom zoo is a sanctuary zoo, which means all their animals have been rehabilitated but can’t be rereleased or were taken from irresponsible owners. They have a wide range of animals, from tigers to peacocks to horses. They had chickens and peacocks running wild around the place. It was quite interesting.
I am a HUGE animal lover, something I hope Ben will one day share with me. I would love to have a dog but know that it’s not fair to keep one in such a small apartment. When we own a home, a dog will be added to our family.
Ben loved walking around but the zoo was hilly, and the pavement was very uneven. I had to hold his hand most of the time to help him avoid falling and the puddles.
I think we’ll go back when he’s a little bit older. He’ll appreciate it more. However, it was something I have wanted to do since we moved to Folsom and I’m glad we did. The zoo was next to a huge park where they had a small train for us to ride.
He is continuing to explore and becoming more and more independent…
