Ryan had to go to LA this weekend for a tradeshow so it was just Ben and I. The Sacramento heat has returned in full force but I decided that we needed to get out.
My cousin Darcy called us to say that she was going to Pops in the Park in downtown Sacramento. There was a band playing along with different foods and beverages being served. So after treatments and some dinner, Ben and I headed downtown. It was really hot but Ben needed to get out and I needed to get out of my we-just-lost-Conner funk.
Once we got there, I parked at her house, loaded up the wagon and hiked to the park. I was glad we made the decision to go. Ben ran straight for the crowd of people…
and began to dance.
I let him push his wagon around which he loved.
But there were tears when I wouldn’t let him push the wagon into a crowd of people.
Just call me mean Mommy. However, it wasn’t something that a chip couldn’t fix.
Then we danced with the bear from the State Fair
And then there were more tears when I wouldn’t let him follow the bear into the bathroom (poor person in there must have been sweating). Once again, mean Mommy.
The day ended when a tantrum was thrown over an empty Otter Pop wrapper. Event though it would have been nice to stay longer, I am glad for the one-on-one time I have with Ben. I seemed to hold him a little bit tighter this weekend :)
